Especially for some key business industries, such as energy and electricity, financial investment fields, etc., cabinet asset management is playing a crucial role for the normal operation of their business.

This article does not discuss the specific project implementation plan, but only does some simple combing from the existing source technology, hoping to bring some inspiration to data center asset operation and maintenance.

Bar Code Label
Most of the existing data center asset management still adopts the manual recording method, through a combination of paper labels and forms, and is manually entered into the fixed asset library; while in recent years, with the rise of bar-code and QR code scanning technology, most fixed assets are entered through digital code scanners. As a result, cabinet fixed assets are also recorded and pipeline assets are tagged in such a way for asset management. This type of approach relies to a large extent on manual operation for management, while combining the scanner for entry and then synchronizing the asset library offline. Due to the offline nature of the tag, data needs to be updated frequently inventory, manual in this type of management method accounted for a large proportion.

RFID Management
RFID tags used in the server room is mainly used for regional asset management and asset management of some cabinets U-bit. Regional asset management through active / passive RFID tags, usually 433MHZ, 900MHZ and 2.4GHZ band, and then read by the reader of the band, read the range and service life is generally different depending on the type of tag or antenna power, such positioning can be positioned to the antenna coverage of the assets, and real-time management through the network background.
RFID asset tags are also often used in cabinet U-position asset tags, through the reader installed in the cabinet, similar to our cabinet asset locator, to read the asset tags on the U-position rack in real time. RFID asset management method due to the realization of the background synchronization of data, releasing part of the manual management steps.
As RFID technology needs to communicate through specific wireless frequency band, in the case of serious electromagnetic interference environment in the server room, many times there will be missed reading or wrong reading; at the same time RFID chip encryption technology has been perfectly cracked in recent years, the security of the data also has certain hidden dangers.

EIC electronic tag management
EIC electronic tag management using EIC electronic chip, can store and record more data, and support repeated reading and writing; At the same time data encryption is more strict (using special encryption chip), basically can not be cracked. In addition, due to the development of the connector technology in recent years, the connector antioxidant and anti-static technology guarantees the rapid and accurate data transmission in any harsh environment.
Through the cabinet asset locator can achieve the U-bit level asset positioning in the cabinet, and real-time synchronization of background management, because the technology itself does not require data communication through the wireless frequency band, basically there is no interference problem.

The following is a simple summary table, which is a comparison of the above technologies.

Function

RFID

Barcode

EIC Tag

Location Level

Space level

Poor

U-Level

Location Accuracy Rate

70~80%

90%

99%

Read Speed

Slow read for multiple at same time

One code once

Fast read for multiple at same time

Response Speed

1S-5S (slower for more tag read same time)

1S~2S

<1S

Internal Data Security

Data can be decrypted

No internal storage

Encrypted chip

Metal Resistant

Interfered by metal

No interference

No interference

Electro-magnetic Resistant

Interfered

No interference

No interference

Efficiency for Management

Auto-management, upload real-time

Human operation

Auto-management, upload real-time

Related Product Links: Click here
Contact us for more EIC electronic label cabinet asset management product information.
info@smartiotec.com

Bar Code LabelMost of the existing data center asset management still adopts the manual recording method, through a combination of paper labels and forms, and is manually entered into the fixed asset library; while in recent years, with the rise of bar-code and QR code scanning technology, most fixed assets are entered through digital code […]

[3
24,23,22
post-851","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-all_product","tag-asset-tracking-idc","tag-asset-tracking-rfid","tag-asset-tracking-tag
["GET
